Support The Library
The Pottsville Library receives funding from the City of Pottsville, Schuylkill County, and the State of Pennsylvania. But the Library also depends on donations to provide the wide variety of services and reading material our community deserves.
Fundraising Events
The Pottsville Free Public Library holds a number of fundraising events every year, both large and small. Annual fundraisers include:
– Raffles, such as the 12+ Gifts of Christmas basket raffle
– Mini Golf at the Pottsville Library at the end of February (Yes, mini golf IN the Library, complete with a hole that goes down steps!)
– Easter flowers, in partnership with a local greenhouse
– Wreaths and poinsettias, in partnership with a local greenhouse
– Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, in partnership with a local acting group
We like to throw the occasional big gala party, too, as well as smaller paint-and-sip-type events. Follow us on our Facebook page or check our Calendar page to find out what’s coming up.
Special Book Programs
The Pottsville Free Public Library offers special programs to honor an individual or special occasion or to celebrate the memory of a family member or friend. Contributions to these programs are acknowledged in the Republican Herald newspaper as well as the Library’s Facebook page.
The Honor Book Program is used for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, achievements, or other special occasions. The Library purchases a book for the collection in honor of the individual or special occasion and inserts a bookplate that identifies the honored individual and your name. The Library also sends an announcement of your gift to the honored individual.
The Memorial Book Program is provided to celebrate the memory of a loved one. The Library purchases a book for the collection in memory of the loved one and inserts a bookplate that names the deceased and the donor. An acknowledgment of the memorial gift is sent to the individual identified by the donor.
The suggested minimum contribution for both programs is $15. Arrangements for these programs can be made in person, by calling (570) 622-8880, or by submitting the form below and clicking on the “Memorial or Honor Donation via Square” button.
