Celebrate Black History Month with us on Feb. 5th!

The Pottsville Free Public Library and the Martin Luther King Jr Family Enrichment Center-Schuylkill invite everyone to join us as we celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Black History Month by participating in the National African American Read-In, on Wed., February 5th at 6 PM. Local readers will share their favorite short stories and children’s picture books written or illustrated by African American writers and artists. The Library will also have a display of featured books available for you to borrow and read at home.

The National African American Read-In (AARI) is a groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, centering African American books and authors. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. The Pottsville Library has enjoyed the partnership with the Martin Luther King Jr Family Enrichment Center-Schuylkill to host this event for many years. NAACP-Schuylkill has also joined as a supporting community organization.

African American Read-In, Wednesday, February 5th at 6:00 PM at the Pottsville Free Public Library.
